The goal of the Stanford University Summer Internship is to build a community and create a cohort of future graduate student engineers who can enhance diversity in thought and experience within the engineering and science student body.

Since its launch, the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) has served as a platform for undergraduate students to engage in scientific research and has laid the groundwork for them to pursue further studies in science and engineering.

While the 2024 SURF Fellows have returned to their respective universities, they participated in research across various science and engineering departments, contributing to important studies that address significant challenges of the 21st century.

 

Requirements for Eligibility for the Stanford University Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship

To be eligible for the Stanford University Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Applicants must be Nigerian.
  • Applicants must be students from the University of Ibadan.
  • Applicants must be in their third year (completing their third year before September 2025).
  • Applicants must have achieved First Class Honors with a cumulative GPA of 70/100 or higher.
  • Applicants must show a demonstrated interest in research in fields such as biochemistry, microbiology, immunology, biomedical engineering, or a similar area.
  • Applicants must be willing to spend 8-10 weeks participating in a research training internship at Stanford University during the summer.
